What the Mainland Business Registration Process Covers

One team across the economic department, the notary, immigration, the labour ministry and the bank. You are not the one chasing four desks and learning at the third that the first wanted a different document.

Activity and Legal Form

We map what you actually do onto the authority's activity list, then pick the legal form that fits it. This is the decision everything else hangs off, and it is far cheaper to get right now than to amend later.

Trade Name and Initial Approval

Your company name checked against the naming rules and reserved with the economic department, then the authority's consent in principle secured so the rest of the file can move forward.

Memorandum and Notarisation

Memorandum of association drafted and notarised, with a local service agent agreement arranged where your activity calls for one, and shareholder documents attested where the authority asks for it.

Premises and Tenancy Registration

Tenancy arranged and registered with the authority, sized against the visa allocation you actually need rather than the smallest option that fits on paper and boxes you in later.

Licence, Establishment Card and Labour File

Trade licence issued, immigration file opened and your labour establishment file registered with the ministry, so hiring and visas can begin without a second round of paperwork.

Visas and Corporate Banking

Residence visas and Emirates ID processed for you and your staff, and your corporate account prepared and introduced. Banking is often the slowest stage, so we start it early rather than last.

How Your Registration Actually Runs

1

Tell Us What You Do

Your activity, your customers, your premises plan and the visas you expect to need in year one. Everything that follows is shaped by what you tell us at this stage.

2

Structure and Activity Codes

We confirm the licence class, the legal form and the exact activity codes, and flag any ownership condition or external approval attached to them before you pay a fee.

3

Name, Approval and Documents

Trade name reserved and initial approval obtained, then the memorandum and shareholder documents prepared, notarised and attested where the authority requires it.

4

Premises and External Approvals

Tenancy signed and registered, and any regulator sign-off your activity triggers filed alongside it, rather than discovered after a rejection lands.

5

Licence, Visas and Banking

Trade licence and establishment card issued, labour file opened, residence visas processed and your corporate bank account application supported through to opening.

What You Will Need to Provide

Passport copies for every shareholder
Passport photographs
Emirates ID and visa page if you are resident
Two or three proposed trade names
Tenancy contract for your premises
Board resolution for corporate shareholders

Requirements vary by activity, legal form and emirate, and some activities trigger approvals from a regulator beyond the economic department. We confirm your exact list case by case before anything is filed, so you are not collecting the same documents twice. The UAE government's own business services overview is a useful cross-check.

Mainland Registration Questions

Can a foreign investor own a mainland company outright?
On most activities, yes. UAE law opened the great majority of mainland activities to full foreign ownership, keeping an Emirati participation requirement only on a defined list of activities of strategic impact. We check which list yours falls on before you pay anything. The Ministry of Economy and Tourism is the authority here.
How long does the mainland business registration process take?
We do not publish a number for it, because we do not control it. Turnaround depends on your activity, the external approvals it triggers, how quickly notarisation can be scheduled and how fast your documents arrive attested. We will tell you honestly which stages sit in our hands and which do not.
What does it cost?
Government charges are set by the licensing authority in your emirate and change with activity, legal form and premises. We quote those and our service charge separately, so nothing is bundled out of sight. You get figures for your own case rather than a headline number that excludes half of it.
Do I need a physical office?
Mainland registration is tied to registered premises, and the tenancy has to be registered with the authority. What qualifies varies by emirate and by activity, and your premises also drives how many visas you can hold. We size it to your hiring plan rather than to the cheapest box that fits.
Can I add activities or change the company later?
Yes. Activities can be added, shareholders changed, premises moved and the legal form amended, each as a formal amendment with the authority. All of it is doable and all of it is avoidable, which is why we spend the time on structure before filing rather than after.
What happens after the licence is issued?
The licence, the tenancy registration and the establishment card all renew on a cycle, and your tax position has to be registered and maintained. See the Federal Tax Authority for the current rules. We diarise the dates and handle the filings for you.
